1. EXT. CREATIVITY - DAY
Ideas, stories, plotlines, characters, snippets of dialogue, as well as scenes, sequences and locations are always floating around in my cerebral hemisphere, and up for grabs. Apart from developing my own projects from scratch, I’m open for all kinds of collaborations and joint efforts, at any stage in the creative process: From the initial brainstorming — to the finishing re-write; as a writer, co-writer, ghostwriter, script editor, script doctor or as a regular screenplay consultant.
So far I’ve dabbled with genres like action, adventure, drama, documentaries, (supernatural) horror- and thriller projects, as well as the occasional family-oriented comedy/fantasy. Genres close to my own heart that I feel at home, at ease and comfortable with. However; I’m always up for a new challenge, so I never rule anything out — but I do consider myself, first and foremost, a genre writer.
2. INT. THE PROCESS - DAY
I’m a solitary lone wolf-writer, born and bread, but I do enjoy working with others and in teams - and as such; I’m flexible, open minded, easy to work with and have absolutely no ego to bruise.
I do a lot of research and take great pride in thoroughly developing the characters and the structure, making sure it all works, before I even turn on my computer ...and when it comes to script software, I prefer Final Draft.
3. INT. THE METHOD BEHIND THE MADNESS - DAY (LATER)
One thing I’ve learned so far, is that one should avoid having precise theories. Instead you need to question everything, try to discover and/or invent your own ways, means and methods – making up your very own rule (or guide) book as you go along and as you come to grow as a writer, constantly adding facts, knowledge and experience.
Sure, I use most of the traditional tools, and structural devices at hand - but the ”method” depends on the project and the personal creative madness it creates.
4. INT. THE STYLE - EVENING
Since film is a visual medium, I work almost exclusively with images. Being a European writer, I do tend to dwell on characters a lot - but my work on the plot and the narrative structure is equally as extensive.
The way I write (and the ”style” in which I express myself), is very much in the same spirit as on these pages. It also depicts the way I am as a person, representing both the professional me and the personal one, in a quite adequate way.
5. EXT. IN CLOSING - NIGHT
...and since we’re on the subject: I do write other things than screenplays, treatments, outlines and synopsis. As long as there are words and sentences involved, I’m in!
CUT TO BLACK.
